Use the cart with other apps and themes
How the cart takes over your theme's cart, works with other apps' add-to-cart buttons and discounts, and what to do when two carts open.

The cart replaces your theme's cart through the Cart Drawer app embed. It works with modern themes, such as Dawn, Horizon and Prestige, without editing theme code.
What the cart takes over
- Your theme's cart icon and links to your cart page open the drawer. With Drawer + full cart page, a text link such as View cart opens the full cart page instead.
- Add-to-cart buttons, including quick-add buttons and ones added by other apps, open the drawer with the product in it.
- Your theme's own cart count updates as the cart changes.
When two carts open
Another cart app, or a theme setting that opens its own cart drawer, can compete with this cart.
- Turn off any other cart drawer app, or its app embed in App embeds.
- In your theme's settings, look for its cart type and set it to the cart page or to a notification rather than its own drawer.
- If a custom button still opens your theme's cart, see Work with the cart in your theme code.
Chat bubbles and floating buttons
While the drawer is open, chat bubbles and other floating buttons move behind it, and come back when it closes. You can turn this off with Keep the cart above other floating widgets. See Choose how the cart opens.
Popups over the cart
A newsletter, consent or discount popup that opens on top of the cart can be closed without closing the cart, so a shopper carries on where they were.
Other apps' discounts and bundles
The cart reads your live cart, so bundle lines and other apps' discounts show as they are. Whether the app's own rewards stack on top of them is your choice under Combine with other discounts. See A discount code won't apply.
Page speed apps
An app that delays or combines scripts can stop the cart from loading. Add the cart's script to its exceptions, or turn off script delay for it.
