Use your quiz in other languages and markets

How a quiz handles your store's language, currency and money format, and how to offer a quiz in a second language.

A quiz speaks your store's language because you write it: every question, answer and heading shows exactly as you wrote it. Prices follow your store's currency and money format, so they match the rest of your store.

Write the quiz in your language

Everything you write shows on your store as written, in any language:

  • questions, answers, descriptions and education boxes
  • the email step's heading, text, button and skip link
  • the results heading, text and button, and a set's steps, tiers and notes
  • the headings you set on blocks in your theme editor

A few words the quiz adds by itself are in English, such as Next question, See results, Start over, Retake the quiz, Modify your answers, the email step's field names and the line that shows a discount code. Fields you leave blank, such as the email step's button, show their English default too, so fill them in.

Offer a quiz in a second language

A quiz has one language. To serve shoppers in two:

  1. On Quizzes, duplicate the quiz and write the copy in the second language. Duplicating is part of Pro.
  2. Publish both, and copy each one's Quiz ID from its Settings.
  3. In your theme editor, add a Custom Liquid section where the quiz should open, with a button for each language:
{% if request.locale.iso_code == 'fr' %}
  <button type="button" data-quiz-id="FRENCH_QUIZ_ID">Trouver ma routine</button>
{% else %}
  <button type="button" data-quiz-id="ENGLISH_QUIZ_ID">Find my routine</button>
{% endif %}
  1. Replace the two IDs with your quizzes' IDs, and select Save.

Shoppers browsing in French then get the French quiz. The buttons need the Quizz Core Script app embed. See Open a quiz from your own button.

Prices and currency

  • Prices show in your store's currency, written with your store's money format from Settings > General in your Shopify admin, as in your theme.
  • Whole amounts drop the ".00", such as $20.
  • When a product's variants cost different amounts, the quiz shows its lowest price.

Shoppers in other markets

When you sell in several currencies with Shopify Markets, the quiz shows prices in your store's currency. The products go into the cart like any other, so the cart and checkout show the shopper's own currency and prices as usual.

In Analytics, revenue is counted in your store's currency. See How quiz sales are counted.
